(March 26, 2008) GH Chatter A number of future AACSB accreditation scenarios are circulating lately. Two are old news. First,
the CoB's Tourism Management Department wants to pull out of the CoB's core, a move that would all but end the CoB's AACSB
hopes in 2012. Second, SAIS is planning to drop its separate AACSB accreditation in 2012. A new scenario has the CoB not
seeking AACSB accreditation in 2012 altogether. Since 2003, CoB faculty have heard the line that maybe an accredited b-school is
too much of a strain on USM's pocketbook. Will it come to fruition in 2012?
(April 30, 2008) Special Report Sleepy Hollow – More on AJW & AACSB An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research
Credentials As USMNEWS.NET reporters and correspondents continue to sift through the pile of new documentation from USM
(received via a Freedom of Information Act request) regarding the CoB’s 2007-08 6th Year Revew by AACSB, new reports will
continue to arrive on the pages of the website. This report looks at a portion of Interim Dean Alvin J. Williams’ response to
AACSB regarding “Standard 10 – Faculty Qualifications.” The CoB’s support in the development of junior faculties’ research
agenda was found by the AACSB Peer Review Team in 2007 to be woefully inadequate.
(June 8, 2008) Breaking News CoB Admin Discovered, Made Use of New AACSB Provisions HATTIESBURG – Reporters at
USMNEWS.NET have learned that during the CoB's 2007 AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation process, CoB administrators
exploited a new AACSB provision that allows a business school to essentially waive the usual "Academically Qualified" and/or
"Professionally Qualified" requirements of faculty for marginal faculty who are within their retirement window.
(June 20, 2008) CoB News, 20 June 2008 Munn was PQ? Sources tell USMNEWS.NET reporters that accounting instructor, Patty
Munn, was listed as "Professionally Qualified" in the CoB's 2007-08 AACSB documents. Here's how Munn describes her
professional accounting experience under oath in a U.S. District Court proceeding (Q=legal counsel's question; A=Munn's
response)
Q. Have you ever been employed outside the academic field in accounting?
A. I've done some work for people, but nothing major.
If sources are correct, for AACSB to be a viable and effective entity in the future it may need to request that an institution's
accreditation reports be submitted as signed affidavits, and that AACSB visitation teams bring with them officers of the court.
