(September 21, 2010) A Brief History of Saunders’ “Lease” of Airplane N777AQ During a Recession Part 3 Why Is There So Little Trust In Leaders? At the Faculty Senate meeting on December 5, 2008, “The Provost emphasized strongly that the deal [lease of airplane N777AQ] is still in negotiation, and is not complete.” As of December 5, 2008, USM had spent thousands of dollars on the airplane. (See, USM’s AP & TRAVEL document for confirmation.)
(September 22, 2010) A Brief History of Saunders’ “Lease” of Airplane N777AQ During a Recession Part 4 Why Is There So Little Trust In Leaders? Or were both planes merely similar in the sense that they were purchases that added to waste of taxpayer and tuition funds, which made future economic recessions more difficult to deal with?
(September 19, 2010) A Brief History of Saunders’ “Lease” of Airplane N777AQ During a Recession Part 1 Why Is There So Little Trust In Leaders? When a student asked Dr. Saunders about the use of her airplane, she told the student it was in the air two or three times a week. She advised the student to check his references. We have undertaken to provide the references, not only to the student, but to usmnews.net’s readers. Perhaps Dr. Saunders should undertake to review the University’s records and check her references before chastising a student or claiming that the plane is used “two or three times a week”. However, as demonstrated in earlier reports, Dr. Saunders has shown little interest in facts.
(September 21, 2010) A Brief History of Saunders’ “Lease” of Airplane N777AQ During a Recession Part 2 Why Is There So Little Trust In Leaders? We organize the history by documenting representations made by President Saunders and Provost Lyman in their report to a Faculty Senate meeting on December 5, 2008 (page 2, para. 7).
(September 23, 2010) A Brief History of Saunders’ “Lease” of Airplane N777AQ During a Recession Part 5 Why Is There So Little Trust In Leaders? Let’s take a closer look at this one. It seems as though Saunders and Lyman are trying to tell us we got one hell of a good deal. We’re paying travel money to ourselves, that is, to the USM Foundation. But USM, according to its own records (see, AP & TRAVEL document) pays for the plane’s lease, maintenance, pilots, fuel, etc, not the USM Foundation. The truth is, students’ and taxpayers’ pay for the airplane. Millions of dollars gone for a grossly inefficient use of resources: tens of thousands of dollars per flight within Mississippi, not to mention the cost of using the airplane outside MS, either way, $6,187.67 per flight hour, not the inaccurate $800 per flight hour as represented by Drs. Saunders and Lyman.
