(April 24, 2008) USM's College of Business: A Certified Retirement Community A number of reports here at
USMNEWS.NET have focused on various forms of service dereliction by CoB administrators and the faculty they
protect. A good example of the former is EFIB Chair George Carter's Council of Chairs dereliction, while an example of
the latter is economics professor William Gunther's Faculty Senate dereliction. This report takes a fresh look at the
types of service dereliction covered in past reports by examining CoB faculty attendance at recent Academic Council
and Graduate Council meetings.
(May 19, 2008) (corrected and updated May 21, 2008) Special Report Is Doty Lucky to be at USM? An Investigative
Series on CoB Faculty Research Credentials The new USMNEWS.NET series, "Carrying HoDo . . .," has been a popular

in order to provide some additional information about former CoB Dean Harold Doty's research record. The
information below will likely be of great interest to much of our readership.
(July 21, 2008 ) Special Report Growing Race in Management An Investigative Series on CoB Faculty Research
Credentials As far as USM's business school is concerned, no unit has fought against academe's shift toward a
research-activity like management. With current and former management faculty like David Duhon and Stephen
Bushardt in the fold, and so often holding important administrative positions, the proverbial "research culture" never
really had a chance to gain a foothold in management. As a result, there are not many candidates for "the greatest ever"
in management, and all of them are 21st Century faculty. And, as reports here at USMNEWS.net have revealed, both of
the finalists --- former CoB dean, Harold Doty, and associate professor Jon Carr --- have records that show multiple
co-authors and a considerable degree of so-called "academic slipstreaming."
