(April 3, 2007) Special Report Night Court? An Investigative Series on the use of the CoB for Personal Gain
Readers of usmpride.com are now familiar with allegations regarding EFIB Chair George Carter’s use of USM
facilities in the operation of his private business concern, Mississippi Consulting Group, Inc. A recent installment
in this Special Report series entitled "Conveniently Located" provided documentation (obtained through the
MORA) about this matter. USM counsel Lee Gore used that documentation to argue that Carter's use of USM
facilities to operate his consulting concern met and/or surpassed guidelines of "acceptable use." The previous
report indicated that there is no language within the IHL guidelines for University counsel to make "acceptable
use" judgments.
(April 3, 2007) What’s Wrong with the Learning Process in Stats? Claims by members of the AACSB Team (e.g.,
George Carter) that the CoB’s undergraduates are deficient in statistics knowledge have been the subject of other
reports posted to USMPRIDE.COM in the past.
(April 4, 2007) 31st & Pearl Tier II Larry Amidst all of the turmoil inside the CoB in recent weeks and months, a
small detail in a recent usmnews.net report almost slipped through the cracks and escaped further notice. That is,
former assistant professor of finance Larry Eisenberg is now at the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
(April 8, 2007) Special Report Is George Carter Becoming a USM Millionaire? An Investigative Series on the Use of
the CoB for Personal Gain A number of investigative reports that are related to EFIB Chairman George Carter’s
use of USM facilities for work in his private sector consulting firm have been produced by the news staff at
usmnews.net. Recently tips from sources led usmnews.net reporters to the temporary website for the private
sector company Forensic Economics Corporation.
(April 13, 2007) Local Academicians Comment on Plagiarism Reporters at usmnews.net have provided a number
of reports and analyses of what appears to be at least two major cases of plagiarism within D. Harold Doty’s
Administration (2003-2007) of USM’s College of Business. These two cases involve copying by CoB personnel of
(1) AACSB documents written by officials at Central Missouri State University and (2) an academic honesty code
written by officials at Syracuse University, Doty’s previous employer.
(April 14, 2007) It’s Time The CoB Dean’s Office has been emptied and re-filled on an interim basis. Barry Babin
long ago made the decision to run from the taint of Doty. SAIS has been searching for a new Director, and has
looked at two candidates now. In the finest tradition of CoB “real” administrators (not the Graduate Director, not
Dr. Pate, not any other made up hangers-on positions), that leaves only George Carter from the Doty days of dread.
