(October 2, 2009) breaking news . . . Hsieh Named University Distinguished Professor HATTIESBURG – In a move that will most likely come as a tremendous shock to many current and former CoB faculty and staff, the CoB’s Chang-Tseh Hsieh has been named as one of just four University Distinguished Professors by the Martha Saunders administration of USM. Hsieh, a professor of decision sciences, was referred to by Saunders as “a gifted and dedicated” faculty who has “enriched the life of USM." (December 1, 2009) Top Stories of 2009 by Duane Cobb Long-time readers of USMNEWS.net are probably aware that I like to provide “Top __” type lists from time to time. (April 9, 2010) GH Chatter Speaking of budget cuts, some are chattering about upcoming cuts in CoB advising (room 110). People are also talking about two secretaries being let go. Word is also going around about Chang-Tseh Hsieh hinting that a departure may be in the near future for him. Such a move might actually release some pressure in information systems. Kuo Lane Chen could follow Hsieh out, making some room to possibly keep Dale Lunsford. Lunsford must be giddy about this chatter.
(April 10, 2010) Special Report On the Clock A Look at the 2011 Louis K. Brandt Award Race The 2010 CoB awards banquet has come and gone, and now CoB faculty are on the clock for the 2011 awards banquet. There the 2011 AT&T Outstanding Faculty Award will be handed out, as will the 2011 Louis K. Brandt Research Award. The latter is the most prestigious award delivered by CoB administration, and as such, reporters at USMNEWS.net spend some time tracking the candidates and assessing prospects for those thought to be in the running.
