has yet to suffer any discomfort as a result of the Great Recession, and its accompanying fiscal difficulties. As
Rigney points out, Oklahoma State University’s Scott Blackwell, pictured below, has been named USM’s new
director of Residence Life and Housing.

David Tisdale’s USM presser points out, a celebratory opening of USM’s new five-story parking garage – a
structure capable of accommodating 1,200 vehicles – occurred on the morning of 7-April-2011, complete with USM
president Martha Saunders and USM vice president of student affairs Joe Paul driving an antique vehicle through
a yellow ribbon to mark the occasion (see Steve Rouse’s photo below).

Program? In his recent interview with USM public relations official Van Arnold, vice president for student affairs
Joe Paul provided some details of his college days at USM a few decades ago. In doing so, Paul made some
comments that suggest that USM’s communications program, which is reportedly now the recipient all sorts of
largesse under USM president Martha Saunders, is anything but taxing in the academic effort sense.
