A Campus-Wide Comparison Much has been made around the USM campus, Hattiesburg, and Mississippi, as well as on the pages of USMNEWS.net, The Hattiesburg American, The Student Printz and other media outlets about USM president Martha Saunders’ decision to sign a $2 million lease of a Beechcraft airplane (for USM) during the worst economic period since the Great Depression.

HATTIESBURG – According to Cade Morrow’s 8-Nov-2010 report for The Student Printz entitled “Proposal presents problems,” USM sophomore Daniel Miles is now backing away from his own proposal to bridge a $3 million gap in USM’s FY2012 budget that would allow the institution’s religion, philosophy, deaf education, and other programs/faculty to be retained after 2010-11.

(November 16, 2010) Saunders Now Claiming Credit for Promotion Raises In her 16-November-2010 news story (http://www.studentprintz.com/fedora-receives-35-000-raise-1.1778264) for The Student Printz entitled "Fedora receives $35,000 raise," reporter Mary Margaret Halford questioned multiple USM administrators about the recent one-year contract extension and $35,0000 raise given to USM head football coach Larry Fedora, one that bumps Fedora's "base pay" up to $685,000 per year.
