SONIA GAINES-LITTLES,
FORMER EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE DEAN
(October 29, 2009) The Realities of Antonyms Many in administration at Southern Miss like to use similar words when
they describe their own actions, and what they have directed others to do for them. Currently popular words include
“transparent”, “efficient”, “friendly”, and “fair”. The irony is the reality of performance is the opposite of these. This is
true of many in the dome and in the colleges.
(November 2, 2009) GH Chatter Google 10: Sonia Gaines-Littles
(November 4, 2009) CoB News, 4 November 2009 Still No "Word" from Lance CoB dean Lance Nail (pictured below) has
been on the job since 1-July-08 and still there is no "Dean's Message" located on the CoB's website. [Editor's note: as of
12-25-10, there is still no Dean's message located on the CoB's website.]
(November 10, 2009) CoB News, 10 November 2009 “Because of Gaines-Littles” There are reports circulating that there
may be some unusual turnover in CoB staff at the end of 2009-10. Dissatisfaction of working “for” Sonia Gaines-Littles
has been cited as the primary consideration at this point. If such turnover materializes in May-2010, expect some reports
on the matter from USMNEWS.net.
(February 8, 2010) GH Chatter Reports coming into usmnews.net suggest that an effort is underway to build a case
against Sonia Gaines-Littles, the CoB second-in-command, and this effort has its origins across campus. No one would
be surprised if such an effort came from within the CoB since Sonia has ruffled many feathers and continues to do so.
(February 1, 2010) Details I Reports to usmnews.net say that the lack of dean’s office oversight to details, especially ones
supposedly under the direction of Sonia Gaines-Littles, continue. One example is the continued problem of the
marquee by the elevator in JAG. “Finance” is still misspelled after more than half a year and frequent reminders to
Sonia.
(June 17, 2010) Gaines-Littles Departing, Tucker Returning HATTIESBURG – CoB alternative learning
coordinator/executive assistant Sonia Gaines-Littles is set to depart the CoB in the coming days. The controversial
Gaines-Littles, pictured below, is reportedly headed back to California (reports here at USMNEWS.net indicate that she
is a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz).
