(April 21, 2010) Retirees What will the economist retirees do once they depart in June? Here are some thoughts: Trellis Green – phasing to retirement in his deer stand. It is indeed ironic that the one faculty member who – through his lawsuit against USM – could have prevented or delayed some of the Doty-era harm, especially from Carter, allowed it to happen and paid the price. How sympathetic should anyone be?

(May 6, 2010) Special Report Green’s PERS Parachute CoB associate professor Trellis Green is gearing up for a healthier PERS retirement package from Mississippi. With his USM career coming to a close as a result of forced retirements that sent the CoB’s five mostly senior economists away in order to save the USM careers of (now) two other economists (who will move to the CoAL), Green is preparing to teach a full load of courses during summer 2010 semester.

(May 10, 2010) Around the CoB Thoughts on Skip Hughes and Trellis Green What if Trellis Green becomes the leader of economics? How ironic would it be if frequently maligned economics associate professor Trellis Green were to become the leader of economics in the CoAL? Laughter and tears would abound. Old George Carter would need all the antacids he could lay his hands on, even in retirement. Trellis in the CoAL - to the top!
(May 11, 2010) . . . breaking news . . . CoAL Hires Green, Monchuk Again HATTIESBURG – According to the 10-May-2010 update to the Fall 2010 USM course schedule guide, the CoAL has found its two additional economists in former CoB economist Trellis Green, and current CoAL economist Daniel Monchuk. Green has apparently accepted CoAL dean Denise von Herrmann’s offer to join the CoAL-ECO team on a temporary basis. Green will cover one section of ECO 101 (3hrs) and two sections of ECO 201 (6hrs), for nine hours total. Monchuk is already employed in the CoAL, though now it looks as though he will become a clinical teaching faculty in CoAL-ECO.
(June 30, 2010) 31st & Pearl Standing Alone The new fiscal year is here, meaning that we have turned the calendar to 1-July-2010. This date also marks another turning point for USM’s CoB – the economists have departed. Associate professor Daniel Monchuk and professor Akbar Marvasti are now part of USM’s College of Arts & Letters. Joining them, at least for a while, is former CoB associate professor of economics Trellis Green. The other senior economics professors, George Carter, William Gunther, Mark Klinedinst, and Edward Nissan, have moved into retirement. Whether this is what they wanted is another question.
