(November 10, 2009) CoB News, 10 November 2009 Malik Out CoB associate professor of finance Farooq Malik (pictured below)
has been out during fall semester 2009. Malik has taken an official leave of absence, though for unknown reasons. Malik, who
holds a PhD in economics from Texas Tech University, was moved from ECO and into FIN during the George Carter
administration of that department (2005-08).
(January 6, 2010) Malik back in Pocket Mysterious Fall 2009 Leave of Absence Concludes CoB economist-turned-finance prof
Farooq Malik has returned to Hattiesburg, fresh off of a mysterious one-semester (Fall 2009) leave of absence. By being away from
USM during Fall-09, Malik (pictured below) missed much of the drama surrounding the Martha Saunders administration's
decision to eliminate all of the CoB's economics programs and its nine tenured/tenure-track economists.
(April 10, 2010) Special Report On the Clock A Look at the 2011 Louis K. Brandt Award Race The 2010 CoB awards banquet has
come and gone, and now CoB faculty are on the clock for the 2011 awards banquet. There the 2011 AT&T Outstanding Faculty
Award will be handed out, as will the 2011 Louis K. Brandt Research Award. The latter is the most prestigious award delivered by
CoB administration, and as such, reporters at USMNEWS.net spend some time tracking the candidates and assessing prospects
for those thought to be in the running.
