Quotable Doty
(April 10, 2007) Of Little Ability to Discern "...Why couldn’t Williams and USM see what other institutions could about DHD? Sources indicate that Doty left the University of Arkansas under a cloud, and that business profs in Fayetteville were happy to see him leave. Faculty at Syracuse University have made it known that they are thrilled to now be Doty-less after (about) 8 long years. Of course, these institutions are happy USM lacked the ability to discern. At the time Doty was trying to become the CBED’s new Dean, sources indicate that he gave the University of Alabama at Birmingham a shot at him as well. They missed, intentionally. Three schools said “no,” yet Williams and USM said “yes.” Since Doty’s arrival at USM, other institutions have taken the opportunity to say “no” as well (see Table 1)...".

(April 5, 2007) Getting to Know Your CoB: A Primer for CoB Students (part 1) "You may have seen reference to the phrase “jungle rules” on this site over the past several days. That phrase came from our own Dean Harold Doty. He used it during a presentation to faculty and staff at the University of South Florida. He was down there in September of 2005, less than one month after Hurricane Katrina tore through Mississippi, trying to land the job as USF’s new business school dean. What you may not know is that, since Doty arrived at USM in the summer of 2003, he’s been trying to leave. He has interviewed with the University of Texas at El Paso, the University of North Florida, the University of South Florida, the University of West Florida, and the University of North Texas, to name some. None of these schools would hire him, even though he has a Ph.D. from the University of Texas and he came to USM from Syracuse University. You have to ask yourself: why?...".

As a recent usmnews.net investigation revealed, this most recent attempt began in November of 2006, and followed an attempt from the previous year wherein two other candidates, both internal, refused the honor of Directing CoB Dean D. Harold Doty’s new Center. Sources tell usmnews.net that the succession of offers - all turned down - to head the CEE is as follows: …”.
