(September 3, 2010) King Takes Commanding Lead in 2011 LKBRA Race The race for the CoB’s 2011 Louis
K. Brandt Faculty Research Award has taken a dramatic turn of late, with legal studies professor Ernest King
landing a second A-level publication for his 2009-10 LKBRA portfolio. King’s portfolio, shown below, now
far outpaces that of Brian Collins, an assistant professor of management.
(January 14, 2011) Dear USMNEWS.net, Victoria Tyler’s guest editorial about new USM faculty senate
president Anita Davis is interesting. On a note related to the part about how Davis cited CoB associate dean
Joe Peyrefitte as being a renowned scholar in the “organization behavior” area, there have been some USM
press releases announcing that Peyrefitte is now conducting research about the safety of post-BP-spill Gulf
Coast shrimp with CoB assistant professor of international business John Lambert. It’s clear from the
releases that this research is “Lambert’s baby,” and there are several stories on your website pointing out
that Lambert is the primary CoB faculty member who gets (presumably) approached by those whose
research agendas have died.
(January 18, 2011) CoB News 18-January-2011 Award Season Approaching USM’s b-school may not hand out
anything like a Golden Globe Award, but the season for awarding the Louis Brandt and AT&T prizes is just
around the corner, and they are usually enough to generate a little buzz in the spring. Fujun Lai, winner of
the 2009 Louis K. Brandt Research Award, is ineligible for the 2011 LKBRA.
(March 15, 2011) CoB News 15-March-2011 High Lai Charmaine Williams Schmermund’s 2-Mar-2011 USM
presser entitled “Gulf Coast Professor’s Article Named 2010 Top-Rated in Decision Science Journal” is the
latest official reminder that Fujun Lai, the CoB’s McCarty Distinguished Associate Professor of Management
Information Systems (the CoB no longer offers management information systems), has become the
backbone of the college’s scholarly activities portfolio.
(October 22, 2010) CoB News 22-October-2010 Lai Still Going Strong . . . CoB associate professor of
management Fujun Lai is still producing on the research front. A recent Google Scholar search reveals that
Lai has added yet another unique A-level journal publication to his already hefty portfolio. The latest Lai
publication gem comes via his 2010 article in Decision Support Systems (pictured below).
