(August 2, 2007) Memo to Osmonbekov: You’re Not Valued Here Whether assistant professor of marketing Talaibek
Osmonbekov realizes it yet, the evidence is mounting to suggest that the CoB no longer, assuming it ever did, values
his services. The recent publication of the CoB’s 2007 merit raises solidifies the case, as the analysis below shows.

(August 16, 2007) Announcing the . . . Help Roderick Posey Find His Tale Contest The recent report of accounting
professor Roderick Posey’s selection as the 2007-08 Morgan Distinguished Professor of Accounting continues to
baffle readers of USMNEWS.NET. Numerous stories and columns have covered Posey’s own claim to have “more
than 100” publications, and have demonstrated that it is false. Yet, CoB administrators and others continue to shower
Posey with awards (e.g., 2007 BellSouth Outstanding Faculty Award) and honors (e.g., 2007-08 Morgan Distinguished
Professorship) that are based on Posey’s so-called “more than 100” research credential.
(September 4, 2007) 31st & Pearl CoB's Journal Ranking Process Politicized In last Friday's CoB faculty meeting,
interim dean Alvin Williams stated that a new journal ranking was eminent and that the journal ranking committee
would begin work at 8 A.M. on Tuesday, September 04, 2007. Should we, observers of the CoB chaos, expect a
positive outcome from this newly-discovered dedication to journal ranking? Hardly.
(September 6, 2007) Ranking Journals Raises Temps by Duane Cobb The recent 31st & Pearl column about the
politicization of the current journal ranking process is only the latest example of how temperatures rise when it
comes to ranking journals in the CoB. Clearly, the columnist in question has strong feelings about the process, as do
others.
(September 18, 2007) Reaching Out to Help the CoB USMNEWS.NET Receives Journal Ranking Help from Abroad
As a few reports/columns here at USMNEWS.NET have indicated, the contentious process of ranking academic
journals has begun anew in the CoB. That process is being led by untenured assistant professor of economics Sami
Dakhlia, with the help of other untenured faculty (e.g., Michael Wittmann, etc.). This most recent attempt to rank
journals may yet receive a boost, as USMNEWS.NET has just received a tip from a reader about the details of a
journal ranking study that was conducted by a European scholar and is “in press” at an academic journal.
