(August 24, 2009) CoB News, 24 August 2009 Former CoB Dean Williams back on Campus Former CoB dean Alvin Williams, now a chaired professor of marketing at the University of South Alabama, was back on the USM campus recently. He visited in his capacity as co-chair of USM's Centennial Committee, and he helped kick off the 100th birthday celebration with groundbreaking ceremony (see photo below; Williams is 3rd from left, followed by USM president Martha Saunders) for the new Centennial Gateway to USM.
(October 26, 2009) CoB News, 26 October 2009 Williams Inducted into USM Alumni HoF Former CoB interim dean Alvin Williams was recently inducted into the USM Alumni Hall of Fame. Williams was a student at USM decades ago (Class of '74), and he served as a marketing professor at USM for a long period that ended in 2008. He is now a professor of marketing at the University of South Alabama.

(November 9, 2009) GH Chatter The recent stories about former CoBer Alvin Williams reminded some of the new Alvin J. Williams Distinguished Professorship in Minority Entrepreneurship. One would have to assume that this new (2008) professorship was born underwater and may not be filled any time soon. As for another, long-lost CoB professorship, look for news of a new (first ever, really) holder some time in the months ahead.

(April 1, 2010) Centennial Week in the CoB by Duane Cobb This week, 29-Mar through 2-Apr of 2010, USM reached the 100-year mark. Of course, there was a lot of pomp and circumstance, and USM president Martha Saunders pranced around campus as much as expected (if not more). Though the week had more to do with USM administrators, private donors, and other constituencies, some of it did meet the CoB. This week’s column reports on some of these examples.
