Many current CoB faculty are comparing the organization today to the one of the Joe Greene era, and this document allows for a serious assessment of where USM’s College of Business stands today.
(August 23, 2007) 1979 A Look Back at the CoB’s AACSB Application of 30 Years Ago USMNEWS.NET has obtained a copy of the USM College of Business Administration’s AACSB Accreditation Application of 1979. Many current CoB faculty are comparing the organization today to the one of the Joe Greene era, and this document allows for a serious assessment of where USM’s College of Business stands today. This installment (#10) examines the mission of the 1979 CBA. On pages 3-4 of its AACSB Accreditation Application, the 1979 CBA provided a response to the AACSB’s request to present the “Objectives of the Business Unit [i.e., the CBA].” Here is what the 1979 CBA accreditation committee provided for the AACSB:
(September 4, 2007) Breaking News Strain of AACSB Accreditation Woes Showing HATTIESBURG – Sources tell USMNEWS.NET that the strain of the CoB’s AACSB Accreditation woes is showing. One example of the visible strain comes from the recent Fall 2007 CoB Faculty meeting (31-Aug-07), wherein Interim Dean Alvin Williams gave an AACSB update of sorts. At the beginning of the update, Williams informed business faculty that the CoB is “still accredited.” According to Williams, this proclamation seemed necessary after overhearing CoB students, in both undergraduate and graduate classes, holding discussions about the CoB’s current accreditation troubles.
(September 6, 2007) Dear USMNEWS.NET, I recently read the Breaking News story “Strain of AACSB Accreditation Woes Showing,” and I must say that if Alvin Williams is starting to admit problems, the accreditation situation must be dire.
(September 11, 2007) 31st & Pearl Who Knows What? So, in response to the CoB's AACSB Peer Review Team's spring 2007 request for CoB faculty to specify the requirements for promotion and tenure in USM's College of Business, CoB faculty voted on 31-Aug-07 to adopt the proposed P&T policies that were drafted anonymously during the summer of 2007. Upon approval, Interim CoB Dean Alvin Williams informed new fashion merchandising hires Erin Drake and Gallayanee Yaoyuneyong that they would be receiving copies of those freshly adopted policies for mounting on their office walls.
(September 25, 2007) Breaking News SEDONA's Fault? HATTIESBURG – Reporters at USMNEWS.NET have just received a 25-Sept-07 e-mail sent to CoB Chairs by the CoB's Interim Dean, Alvin Williams. Chairs later forwarded the e-mail to faculty in the College. That e-mail concerns the CoB's AACSB Maintenance of Accreditation efforts, and is pasted below:
