Niroomand, CoB sycophants and “dopplegängers” (Bedeian, 2002) were scrambling around Joseph Greene
Hall like Christmas shoppers at 8:00am on Black Friday. From professor of management David Duhon to
visiting assistant professor of international business John Lambert, the “yes men” were in self-preservation
overdrive, feverishly working the water cooler conversations trying to ascertain where their future fortunes
rested.

above struck me as an important one after putting some thought into the recent probationary report from the
AACSB, the CoB's accrediting agency. A number of reports available here at usmnews.net have built a case for
an answer of "no."

(June 27, 2007) 31st & Pearl In the CoB, Sabbaticals = Paid Vacations The selection of Alvin Williams for a
2007-08 sabbatical (IHL Meeting Minutes, Apr-07) continues a curious string of CoB award recipients for this
type of leave. Williams is working on 28 years at USM now. Just what sort of return is the IHL expecting on a
sabbatical investment in Williams at this point?
(July 6, 2007) Believe in Yourself Stephen Bushardt Recites Rudyard Kipling’s “If” to Inspire Scholars The
CoB’s own Stephen Bushardt (professor of management) spoke at the Spring 2007 BCT Banquet at Jones
County Junior College. Bushardt took the dais and recited Rudyard Kipling’s famous “If” to the assembled
group. As the caption accompanying the photo of Bushardt below states, the former CoB Graduate Programs
Director “encouraged Laurel scholars to believe in themselves.”
(July 11, 2007) 31st & Pearl Black Knew Then What We Know Now So many CBA faculty thought it completely
silly that, during the Ty Black administration of the college, faculty had to submit actual copies of their
scholarship at annual review time. The running joke was that it was bush league, that reputable schools don't
