(April 17, 2009) Abuse of Staff? A Look Back at CoB History on the Matter The recent advice to CoB dean Lance Nail entitled Wrong Message, Wrong Mode, Wrong Moment, Wrong Minister regarding the so-called Sonia Gaines-Littles episode alludes to the possibility that the undercurrent of animus towards CoB faculty in Gaines-Littles' e-mail stems from some harm done by past faculty abuse(s) of CoB staff. Assuming for the moment that such harm is real, a look back at CoB history, and on a staffer-by-staffer basis, reveals that the abuses almost always stem from CoB administration sources.

(April 27, 2009) "Congratulations Harold and Susan" The title used above is the title of CoB dean Lance Nail's 27-April-09 e-mail to CoB faculty announcing that the University of Texas – Tyler has hired former CoB dean, and current CoB management professor, Harold Doty, as its new College of Business and Technology dean. Nail's announcement capped a busy day in USM's CoB, as earlier reports from Greene Hall had Doty already throwing books, journals and other academic materials out into the JAG hallway in preparation for his move west.

The recent news that former CoB dean Harold Doty has taken the top administrative spot (dean) in the b-school at the tiny University of Texas – Tyler surprised a great many current CoBers, former CoBers, and interested readers of USMNEWS.net. For a career that began as a student at (the open admissions) Southwest Texas State University, moved on to an initial faculty position at the University of Arkansas (Tier II), then way up to Syracuse University (Tier I), Doty has been plummeting since 2003, having moved from USM (Tier IV, then III) to (now) the almost unheard of UT-T.

(April 28, 2009) Doty Already in a Hole How the Decision to Place Susan in ECO at UT-T will Ultimately Hurt Harold Former CoB dean, and current CoB MGT professor, Harold Doty has been Dean-elect of the b-school at the University of Texas - Tyler only about 24 hours and already he's in a hole as far as b-school faculty there are concerned. It seems that the placement of Harold's wife Susan (shown below) in the ECO unit at UT-T was as big a surprise to U-T b-school faculty as it was to many of our readers who were greeted this morning (28-April-09) the USMNEWS.net report entitled "Congratulations Susan and Harold", which broke the story on Susan's imminent place on the UT-T ECO faculty.

(April 28, 2009) Citations in a Doty-less CoB A Look at the Latest CoB Google Scholar Data without Harold DotyThe recent report about departing CoBer Harold Doty's total Google Scholar cites count of more than 2,180 opened the eyes of newer visitors to USMNEWS.net. This report looks at what is being left behind in the CoB after the dual departure of Harold (MGT) and Susan Doty (ECO), who are soon to be joining the administration and faculty at the University of Texas at Tyler. The GS citations of most of the remaining CoBers are shown below in Table 1.
