MARK KLINEDINST,
FORMER PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS
(December 4, 2008) Change? While the world wonders what the promised “Change” really will mean, one of the – presumably –
strongest supporters of this change as a liberal Democrat should be Mark Klinedinst. In the midst of a mostly conservative College,
Klinedinst has always stood out as a far left liberal, some questioning whether or not he is so far gone as to be a communist in his
beliefs. While philosophically he is what he is, when the talk becomes a walk he is pure Eco cabal material in his desire for money,
power, and having his own way.
(December 22, 2008) Dear Santa: I have made some boo-boos recently. I need even more cover and protection this Christmas for
next year; please do not listen to anyone who says I could not possibly be more of a ghost around here. I know I have it good. I
teach few classes with few students and do almost no research, but it can be better.power, and having his own way.
(March 22, 2009) Our Most Talented Colleagues Unique A-Level Hits of Current & Former CoB Faculty – Economics In May of
2007, untenured assistant professor of economics Sami Dakhlia, a first-year CoB faculty who, to use EFIB chairman George Carter's
term, had just been "canned" by the University of Alabama, took the floor at the end of the CoB's spring 2007 convocation. He then
proceeded to blast the USMNEWS.net editor and various CoB faculty for speaking out against the CoB's administration in a way
Dakhlia felt encouraged his (Dakhlia's) most talented colleagues to leave USM. Of course, Dakhlia wasn't speaking out in support
of those CoB faculty who had been abused by CoB administrators, as management professor Sharon Topping had spoken for only
minutes before Dakhlia was handed the rostrum by then-interim CoB dean Alvin Williams. The faculty Topping referred to were
beginning to leave the CoB as well by spring of 2007. Dakhlia, however, was, according to sources, speaking on behalf of CoBers
(and Dakhlia's friends) like Zaher Hallab (tourism management) and Akbar Marvasti (economics), CoB administrators' favorites
who were either leaving the CoB at that time or expressing a desire to do so.
(July 24, 2009) The Gappy Band Mention in "Klinedinst Led Academic Council in Absenteeism during 2008-09" of the fact that CoB
economics professor Mark Klinedinst has not published an article in an indexed academic journal since 1998 has USMNEWS.net
reporters thinking again about "gappy" (former EFIB chairman George Carter's term) research records in the CoB. It makes sense to
re-examine the gappyness in ECO, since it is Klinedinst who has us walking down memory lane once again. The current journal
publication gaps in ECO are shown in Table 1 below.
(July 23, 2009) Klinedinst Led AC in Absenteeism during 2008-09 The 13-May-09 USMNEWS.net Breaking News report about CoB
economics professor Mark Klinedinst's USM Faculty Senate service dereliction stirred the waters of frustration for many of the
CoB's USMNEWS.net readers. That report showed that Klinedinst's 37.5% absenteeism rate on the USM FS exceeded that of any
other USM FS member by at least 12.5 percentage points. As stated in that report, "[s]ources tell USMNEWS.net that it must be
embarrassing for CoB dean Lance Nail to see . . . Klinedinst . . . so derelict in . . . [his] Faculty Senate responsibilities. . . Report after
report . . . reveals that Klinedinst is derelict in so many of his obligations to USM. Long-time readers will recall that he has not
published a article in an indexed academic journal since 1998, or more than 10 years ago!"
