A Look at the RATEMYPROFESSORS.com Surveys Much has been made about USM’s top 20 placement using a U.S. News & World Report statistic that purports to indicate how “popular” a university or college is among prospective students. That statistic is the percentage of accepted applicants who ultimately enroll. While the Martha Saunders administration seems to want to tout “popularity,” sources indicate that institutional quality is paramount. Any measure of institution’s quality would endeavor to survey current or former students, not future ones.
(March 30, 2011) The BSD Pay Project A Compilation of the Salaries of Southern B-School Deans Recent reporting here at USMNEWS.net regarding the salaries of two former USM b-school administrators – Harold Doty, a former dean, and Farhang Niroomand, a former associate dean – has drawn interest among USMNEWS.net readers. In response to this interest, USMNEWS.net has begun compiling a list of southern b-school deans and their salaries, so that readers can draw comparisons between those entries associated with USM and/or other Mississippi Universities and the salaries of b-school deans from other southern states. Results of this exercise, which is ongoing, appear below in Table 1.
(March 28, 2011) Special Report “Teachers” A Look at How the Powers at USM are Devaluing the CoB and Its Faculty Recent upgrades to the CoB’s website reveals, to sources at least, that the USM business college and its “Faculty” are now being devalued, though there is some uncertainty as to whom to assign the credit/responsibility. An example of what is being referred to here appears in the screen below, taken from the main page of the CoB’s management and international business website.
