(June 9, 2009) A Named Professorship The recent USMNEWS.net report Niroomand & Hudson Play a Little Game, While Doty Re-Works Message indicates that former CoB dean Harold Doty, now the new dean of Business & Technology at the University of Texas – Tyler, has re-worked (as of 1-June-09) his "Dean's Message" on the UT-T website.

(September 16, 2009) GH Chatter It seems that the Dotys are not forgotten. There is some chatter that Susan is now an economics faculty at the University of Texas – Tyler. Recall that some of the economists referred to Harold as their “wise” former dean, whilst arguing on various Internet message boards about the $12 million budget cut and their elimination therein. Perhaps Doty will see to it that UT – Tyler reaches out and hires some of the malcontents. As dean, he should have the capacity for doing so. The only question is: Does he want to?
(September 16, 2009) Will a Wise Doty Save Any ECOers? During the recent two-month battle to save themselves, some of the CoB's 9 economists described (on Internet message sites) former CoB dean Harold Doty as wise , recalling the way Doty dismissed the economic development faculty from USM's b-school. Now that a deal has apparently been struck that has the five most senior ECO faculty retiring, one wonders if Doty will now see fit, in his new capacity as dean of the b-school at the University of Texas – Tyler, to save any of his admirers.
(October 19, 2009) WHERE DOTY FAILED A New Look at the CoB’s Move of IB to MGT The Lance Nail administration’s recent move of international business (IB) to management (MGT) marked the end of an age-old battle to have IB housed in the more appropriate confines of the general business curriculum. For years the CoB’s economists used their affiliation with IB, and its dozens of student majors, to support their bloated existence in USM’s b-school. However, as part of Nail’s fall 2008 reorganization of USM’s CoB, IB and its faculty are now affiliated with business management, and under the direction of David Duhon (not EFIB chairman George Carter).
(October 20, 2009) Doty Now a Gas Production/Pricing Expert FORMER COB DEAN PONTIFICATES ON GAS PRICES IN TYLER Layron Livingston of KLTV in Tyler, TX, ran a report on 20-Oct-09 indicating that, after 7 days of price hikes, gas is selling at $2.49 per gallon in Tyler. With gas prices rising 10 cents in a week, Livingston contacted the new business school dean at UT-Tyler, Harold Doty, for guidance and expertise. Doty, the former CoB dean (2003-07), told Livingston that margins in refining are low, leading refiners to idle capacity in order to engage in routine maintenance. With that Doty predicts that gas prices might rise above $2.50 per gallon.
