(October 26, 2009) Dotylicious by Duane Cobb So, a local television reporter tells former CoB dean Harold Doty, now the business dean at UT-Tyler, that gas prices are at $2.49 and nine-tenths of one penny per gallon, and Doty tells her that he is fearful that industry pressures exist that could push that price above $2.50. You read that correctly – UT-Tyler's dean savant is predicting that the price of gas might rise another two-tenths of one penny.
(November 9, 2009) 31st & Pearl Turnover Unprecedented It's next to impossible to contemplate, as the 9-Nov-09 installment of GH Chatter does, even more faculty turnover in USM's College of Business. The faculty turnover page here at USMNEWS.net was last updated in early Oct]-09. At that time it listed 72 faculty -- let's repeat that one, 72 faculty -- who have left the organization since former CoB dean Duane Harold Doty arrived on the scene back in 2003. That's a turnover rate for the ages.
(November 10, 2009) Devolution One Picture, A Few Words The CoB has changed significantly since 2003, the year that former CoB dean D. Harold Doty took the reins of the organization (until 2007). The Doty years were so disastrous that many hoped the new Lance Nail administration (2008-present) would be solely focused on ushering in brighter days. That was not to be.
(December 1, 2009) Top Stories of 2009 by Duane Cobb Long-time readers of USMNEWS.net are probably aware that I like to provide “Top __” type lists from time to time. The end of the year is a popular occasion for such a thing. In this three-part series, of which this is Part 1, I am providing my Top 10 news stories of 2009. Let’s get to the list.

(December 15, 2009) CoBers' 2009 Christmas Lists . . . Just for Fun, part 2 Harold Doty (former CoB Dean) Texas-sized "booze account"
(December 23, 2009) Carrying Costs A LOOK AT HAROLD DOTY'S CANEBRAKE MONEY PIT An old USMNEWS.net report entitled CoB Castles shows that former CoB dean Harold Doty owned a Canebrake (tony Hattiesburg neighborhood) home valued by county tax authorities at $353,580. This figure produced a yearly property tax liability of $3,504.58 for the Dotys. As long-time readers of USMNEWS.net are aware, Doty resigned his position as CoB dean in April of 2007, and he remained at USM as a rank-and-file faculty through April of 2009.
(January 12, 2010) GH Chatter There are strong indications, according to chatter, that former CoB management professor Stephen Bushardt, now with Spring Hill College in Mobile, is gearing up to conclude his SHC duties after 2009-10 so that he can join former CoB dean Harold Doty at the University of Texas at Tyler, where Doty now serves as b-school dean. This move, should it materialize, would not likely surprise many CoBers who knew both of these former central CoB figures.
