(May 5, 2009) Brandt in Two In and Around USM’s College of Business The other leading candidate for the 2011 LKBA is Trellis Green, an associate professor of economics. According to information in USMNEWS.net's LKBA files, Green will have two publications in the A-level Applied Economics in his award portfolio. That might not be enough to ultimately win the award for Green, but it should be enough to keep him in the running, even near the top of the list, for the next 18 months.
(May 26, 2009) Secret Pay Raises? Recent history at USM demands that faculty bodies, such as the Faculty Senate, consider once again the possibility that "secret" pay raises will be dispensed over summer 2009. In implementing such programs in the past, USM authorities noted that "deserving" individuals needed to be rewarded. There are always a few "deserving" individuals in the CoB, though the "secret" raises of the past often went to the "undeserving" as well.
(July 19, 2009) As the CoB Turns While CoB economics professor William Gunther, currently the director of the CoB's Bureau of Business and Economic Research, drones on about "consumer confidence" at the BBER's mid-year economic conference down on the Mississippi coast, recently hired finance professor Francis Laatsch finally took the in-person reins of his new department, the FINRELS (finance, real estate and legal studies). Meanwhile, Laatsch's new department seems in disarray, partially due to the last-
minute departure of associate professor John Clark.

(January 7, 2010) 31st & Pearl Do the Right Thing . . . . . . At Least Once A belief shared by many is that CoB associate professor of economics, Trellis Green, is being forced to be a part of the group of five mostly senior economists who are retiring on 30-June-10 so that Sami Dakhlia, Akbar Marvasti and Daniel Monchuk can continue their USM careers. Unlike those joining Green in retirement – Mark Klinedinst, George Carter, William Gunther and Edward Nissan – Green's salary is not a hot, bloated mess.
(April 9, 2010) GH Chatter There has been some talk about Trellis Green (ECO) getting a behind-the-scenes “phased retirement” deal that will keep him around a bit longer. If accurate, that could put Green in the position of possibly securing support to keep his job permanently, now that Sami Dakhlia is following Deniz Gevrek out of Hattiesburg. The possibilities here will likely hinge on Mark Klinedinst’s (ECO) efforts to keep his own job after 2009-10. It will be interesting to see if either one turns out to be the sort of “sacred cow” that Klinedinst has been speaking out against around campus.
(April 19, 2010) Dearly Bought, Deeply Tired Examining the USM Departure of Trellis Green As the CoB’s economists depart the Joseph Greene Hall stage at the end of the 2009-10 academic year, USMNEWS.net will be examining the research credentials that will be leaving the CoB, if not the institution as a whole. This installment focuses on associate professor Trellis Green, who is one of the five mostly senior economists who retired so that the four mostly junior CoB economists could maintain their USM careers in the USM College of Arts & Letters.
