(August 19, 2007) Management & Marketing News, 19 August 2007 We have a number of interesting news items to report from the Management & Marketing Department as we begin the 2007-08 academic year. A few of these are detailed below.
(August 23, 2007) Harrell and Perry Join USMGC—CoB Two of the CoB’s new visiting faculty joined USMGC earlier this week. They are Adrine Harrell, a visiting assistant professor in economics, and Ty Perry, a visiting assistant professor in finance. Two separate stories in from the USMNEWS.NET Breaking News desk introduced these two new additions to CoB faculty and other visitors of the website earlier this summer.
(August 27, 2007) Faculty Arrivals and Departures More New Faces in Fashion Merchandising and Tourism Management The faculty depletion in tourism management has seemingly turned around with the recent additions of Babu George and David Paster. George comes to USM’s College of Business from the School of Management at Pondicherry University in India. According to sources, TM Chair Tony Henthorne and George have co-authored various research projects, one of which was recently published in the International Journal of Social Economics.
(October 5, 2007) Breaking News Michael to Leave the CoB LONG BEACH – With last year's negative 3rd Year Review decision, the CoB's Daniel Michael, assistant professor of management, will be leaving USM's College of Business some time in the first half of 2008. With the loss of Michael, an "Academically Qualified" management instructor, the CoB's losses since its AACSB Peer Review Team visit in early February of 2007 climb closer to 15, a figure sources say may be unprecedented in the period of time that has elapsed since then.
(February 16, 2008) CoB News, 18 February 2008 Four More Out of the MGT & MKT Door The 2007-08 academic year has not been kind to the MGT & MKT department. Four faculty have already announced their plans to depart the CoB by the end of 2008. These are:
(August 10, 2007) Breaking News Haggard Replacement Found in Two Visiting Hires GULFPORT – News has reached USMNEWS.NET offices indicating that EFIB Chair George Carter has hired Timothy Perry, a PhD student in finance at Texas Tech University, to replace former EFIB assistant professor of finance Stephen Haggard. In a new twist, however, Perry will join the CoB’s Gulf Coast faculty, while Haggard was attached to the Hattiesburg branch of the department. Haggard departed the EFIB after just one year (2006-07) in order to join the finance faculty at Missouri State University. Haggard’s wife, Dana, also departed the CoB’s Management & Marketing Department to take a similar position at Missouri State University.
(February 14, 2008) Breaking News Bushardt Resigns – Is Joining a Jesuit College’s Faculty HATTIESBURG – Reporters at USMNEWS.NET have learned that CoB management professor, Stephen Bushardt, will be entering retirement at the close of the academic year. Bushardt was an integral figure in the “letter of agreement” episode involving the promotion to professor of David Duhon, and the subject of a recent Point/Counterpoint installment published here at USMNEWS.NET.
